Persepolis Was Set In Iran, During The Islamic Revolution
Persepolis was set in Iran, during the Islamic Revolution in the 1979. A reason why this graphic novel was created was so the narrator could talk about her experience on how it was to live in a community that constantly tried oppressing people. Islamic Revolution not only brought pain and sadness in a community but it ruined the personality of the citizens. The purpose of the Islamic Revolution was an attempt to alter the beliefs of other forcefully with the threat of getting killed or getting tortured to death. Even with these threats the narrator was outspoken to the point her parents feared for her safety. This leads me to say that the Islamic Revolution had a huge impact on the life of the narrator to the point where she wrote aâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Marjane was very proud of her mom making it on the newspaper, but she did not understand that her mom was very scared because she appeared on the Newspaper in Iran. Character Analysis: Elisa Allen John Steinbeck has a very engaging mind. He not only makes people think when they read his work; he makes them think through a number of scenarios with his tales. I believe that looking at this story, you sense this woman, Elisa Allen, is a woman who is very unhappy with her life. The only satisfaction Elisa gets out of life is being in her garden with her family of chrysanthemums. Elisa is very unsettled with her life as a whole. She does not like being stuck on the farm, away from the world and people outside her valley. She does not have any children so she treats her chrysanthemums as if they were her only allowed talent, gift, and special accomplishment, since they are a childless couple.â⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Elisa accomplished what she wanted to she had sexual relations with the loner, the rebel, the man from the wagon, while he got what he wanted: money and sexual relations. After the man in the wagon left she ran inside and immediately took a bath which further proves my point of the inappropriate behavior that had taken place. Elisa becomes very uncomfortable when she and her husband are driving their car to town and they see the manââ¬â¢s wagon creeping slowly down the road in front of them. When they get closer Elisa sees that the man has thrown her chrysanthemums out of the wagon keeping the pot that she had put them in. I believe it was as if the man spit in her face. Importance of Human Services
Question: Discuss about theImportance of Human Services. Answer: Introduction Human services can be seen as the opportunity for social change or a mean of maintains social orders. Human services can be described as the study, analysis, or constantly review of the social science. This is the separate body of knowledge in the discipline of social science. The human services can be defined as the study of the all human system, social innovations, and service technology which is designed to improve the lives of people and society so that they can be able to live with better condition. According to different schools of thoughts on this subject, human services and social work promote change in the society. Along with this, human services empower the people because human rights and social justice are the core values on which people are dependent. Sometimes, human services can be used to gain social control. According to sociologists, social control is very important part of human service activity so, it can be said that social control is expected in social services (Chenoweth McAuliffe, 2014). Personal Values My personal values are based on the philosophy of socialism. According to my beliefs, there should be activities having the purpose to empowered people. The activities should be such that connect the people to the society, to improve the lives of human being in the society. According to my point of view, in present time human services is the tool of the social control rather than the improvement and development in the lives of the people of the society. Now it is the tendency of profit maximizing rather than serving to the people in the society (Fawcett, Goodwin, Meagher Phillips, 2010). Todays world is based on the perception where realistic things are created and destroyed every day. In present time, nothing is realistic. There are many human services organizations who take many dollars for the welfare of the society but they are basically focusing on profit maximization. They focus in increasing the brand image of their organization in the market. There is one book named The Shoc k Doctrine written by Naomi Klein which shows that sometimes the human services organization use the people when they are emotionally and physically weak. They drain out the people at that time as they help them on the name of human services (Johnson, 2009). Actually the human service companies use and take advantage of the poor conditions of the people and make money for own. Along with this, they make the people dependent on them. Sometimes, the disasters can be beneficial for such organizations that make money on the basis of human services. Having socialistic values, there should be such activities in the society in all the organizations who really want to do work for the welfare of the people in the society (Moffat, 2011). There should be discipline and work in the organizations for making the lives of people better. The aim should be to diver the focus of the people towards such organizations who genuinely want to do work for the lives of people. So, the organization should be concerned for the welfare of the people rather than making money and profits. That is the reason; I think that there is the need of mechanism to maintain the social order in the society (Jamrozik, 2009). Dominant Ideology There are the principles of human and social justice and human rights that should be available in the heart of those people who are involved in the human services. There should not be motivation related to maximization of profit and taking advantage of the people. There is the need of transparent participation between the players who are involved in the human services because human services will be able to improve the condition of the society when there will be trust among the people (OConnor, Wilson Setterlund, 2006). To make human service effective and trustworthy among the people in the society, the transparency of the organizations and the needed people is very important. According to an author Adam Jamrozik, there should be two-tiered welfare system to address the issues of human services in the society. People live in free market society and there can various issues related to human services. So, according to him, there should be step by step methods. He suggested a method hav ing proper step to make human services effective. By the proper methods, the human services can be more effective and efficient in the economic system (Donaldson, 2007). So, there should be equal participation of private organizations along with the government organizations in the operations of human services. There should be discipline in the human services to make difference in the lives of the needed people in the society. By the proper methods and the reform activities, human services can be able to serve the people in the true sense (Desmond Stahl, 2011). Conclusion From all the above discussions and based on the personal values, it has been analyzed that, human services and social work promote change in the society but it should be done in the proper manner. From the above stated line that Human services can be seen as the opportunity for social change or a mean of maintains social orders, is true but the human services should be done in the proper manner. There should be discipline and work in the organizations for making the lives of people better. The aim should be to diver the focus of the people towards such organizations who genuinely want to do work for the lives of people. Based on the personal value, I feel that the activities of human services should be such that connect the people to the society, to improve the lives of human being in the society. By the proper methods, the human services can be more effective and efficient in the economic system and there should not be motivation related to maximization of profit and taking advantag e of the people. Spartan Education Essays - Sparta, Ancient Greece, Helots
Spartan Education When examining any society, one of the most important aspects of its civilization to identify is the education of the youth. Children yearn to please their instructors. Therefore, when all children throughout a society are taught a certain way to live and think, when they grow up, the society itself models these values instilled upon the children. Naturally, when using this ideal to study the history of the Ancient Greeks, focus falls upon its two major city-states, Athens and Sparta. As in almost every aspect of comparison, the difference between the education of the warlike Spartans compared to the education of the philosophical Athenians is like comparing black to white. The main focus of a Spartan education was not to focus on literacy. Instead, as a result of the system of helotry practiced in Sparta, fitness, obedience, and courage had to be taught in order for the Spartans to retain the militaristic supremacy that they had over the rest of the Peloponnesus. In contrast, an Ath enian education was devoted to the three basic categories of literacy, music, and physical education in hopes of creating intelligent, well-rounded citizens who could responsibly participate in the Assembly. For purposes of comparison, the education of both societies can be broken down into three distinct periods of age in which certain traits were taught and which certain schools were attended. When education was complete, the society had successfully refined another child into its strict system of beliefs and principles. In the eighth century B.C., Sparta was in need of more fertile land to support an ever-growing population that demanded food. Consequently, Sparta was forced to do what any ancient civilization did when in need of

The Love and Devotion of Lady Macbeth Essay Example
The Love and Devotion of Lady Macbeth Essay Example The Love and Devotion of Lady Macbeth Paper The Love and Devotion of Lady Macbeth Paper Power, and the pursuit of it, can make the strongest person weak. An ironic twist because power is supposed to be the opposite of weakness, but they can be one and the same. The primal thirst for power can lead to people committing atrocities whether in real life or those who are portrayed in fiction. In Shakespeareââ¬â¢s Macbeth, Macbeth is susceptible to be corrupted by the yearning for power and Lady Macbeth does horrible deeds out of love for her husband. Although she appears evil, she loves her husband so much that she is willing to be unsexed, give her sanity and plot treason for her husbandââ¬â¢s ambitions. Lady Macbeth is a woman, and as a woman she is automatically and unjustly associated with being a soft and warm-hearted person. As she vehemently pleads here, ââ¬Å"â⬠¦Come you spirits/ That tend on mortal thoughts! Unsex me here/â⬠¦ come to my womanââ¬â¢s breasts/ And take my milk for gallâ⬠, (Shakespeare, Act I, Scene V, L 40-47) she desires to lose these qualities to do what is necessary of her. This is one of the most powerful things that can be done for another. The mere fact that Lady Macbeth is willing to call on evil spirits for this unwieldy process shows that she has the utmost love and devotion for her husband. One cannot overlook the irony of Lady Macbeth calling on the very same evil spirits that predicted her husband to be to king, to help herself have the power to make Macbeth the leader of Scotland. Also that is she had truly gotten her wish, then she would have lost one of womanââ¬â¢s greatest gifts, the ability to have children or an heir to the throne. Later in the play, as a result of Lady Macbethââ¬â¢s hardened actions, she is beginning to lose her sanity. In all states of consciousness, Macbethââ¬â¢s well-being still plagues her mind. As she is sleep walking, she is trying to assure Macbeth and sooth him into relaxing sleep, portrayed here, ââ¬Å"â⬠¦I tell you yet again, Banquoââ¬â¢s buried; / He cannot come out onââ¬â¢s graveâ⬠. Act I, Scene V, L 60-61) As one can see here, one of her innermost desires is for Macbeth to be happy, but they suffer from the same illness, their conscience, which constantly reminds them of the mayhem they have created. This leads her to lose her most treasured possession, her mind, because of her actions out of love for Macbeth. Eventually it drives her to complete madness and leads her to take her life, a martyr for M acbethââ¬â¢s path to kingship. The binding guilt that tormented Lady Macbethââ¬â¢s mind was not unfounded. Although her hands did not commit the murder of King Duncan, she is directly responsible. She was the driving force behind Macbeth and pushed him into the murder, even when he had his doubts about the worth of becoming king. Lady Macbethââ¬â¢s sheer devotion and love for Macbeth did what was necessary, not what was nice, for Macbethââ¬â¢s aspirations. As one can see, ââ¬Å"â⬠¦ look like the innocent flower/ But be the serpent underââ¬â¢tâ⬠¦ you shall put/ This nightââ¬â¢s great business into my dispatch;â⬠(Act I, Scene V, 64-67), Lady Macbeth set out a foolproof plan to ease the burden of stress that is weighing on Macbeth. The plot and acts of treason and regicide are tokens of Lady Macbethââ¬â¢s devotion because royalty in medieval times were said to be chosen by the divine. In order for lady Macbeth to hazard her life and potentially her afterlife for Macbethââ¬â¢s temporal desires is just another of the many signs of love and devotion. As one can now see, Lady Macbeth is not an evil character but an extremely realistic one who gave all of her strength for her husbandââ¬â¢s weakness. She is somebody who out of love and devotion is willing to give her femininity, her sanity and plot treason for her husband. Lady Macbeth gives everything she possibly can for the happiness of another, the true definition of love. All of this is done because of Macbethââ¬â¢s weakness when he saw the potential for power. One can only wonder how far he would have gotten if he did not have the love and devotion of Lady Macbeth to aid him on his journey. Shakespeare, William. Macbeth. Oxford: Oxford University Press, 1990.

Newark (Create one thats suitable) Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words
Newark (Create one thats suitable) - Essay Example Notable contributors of the slow but steady recovery of Newark include the establishment of the New Jersey Performing Centre (NJPAC) in the 1990ââ¬â¢s and the recent renovations of the Hahne and Company building in downtown Newark. In the late 1920s, many skyscrapers were built in Newark illustrating how the city was growing at a high rate. The cityââ¬â¢s population increased rapidly with most people inhabiting most parts of the city and the neighbourhoods. In 1938, the cityââ¬â¢s budgets fell from $57.8 million to $45 million in 1944 indicating a small and slow recovery from the 1930ââ¬â¢s Great depression. Newarksââ¬â¢ decline was attributed to the wave that drove people to build massive housing and commercial projects. As a result, a lot of money was eliminated in circulation particularly in Newarkââ¬â¢s activities. The Great Depression is believed to have caused manufacturers to leave the city with the jobs. Statistics show in the 1950ââ¬â¢s the white population declined with high margins while the black population increased rapidly until 1967. It has been found out the white investors left the cityââ¬â¢s commercial buildings and left the African Americans struggling with the substandard housing conditions, unemployment and poverty. The sharp decrease in industrial jobs caused the increased poverty rates in 1940s and 1950s. Crime and violence increased in downtown Newark where murder, homicide, theft and rape cases were consistently reported to the Newark Police Department. The good Newarkââ¬â¢s image was destroyed with most curio shops, cafà © and art collectives being closed down during the post-World War II era. The Newark riots of 1967 caused significant decline in recovery of the Newark City in terms of economic growth, controlling crime and violence, as well as, the Cityââ¬â¢s image. In July 1967, a white police officer beat an African American citizen

Organisation Analysis & Change TOYOTA MOTORS MANUFACTURING CORPORATION Research Paper
Organisation Analysis & Change TOYOTA MOTORS MANUFACTURING CORPORATION - Research Paper Example However, on January 26, 2010, Toyota, suspended the sales of eight vehicles that was recalled for various problem which would include accelerator pedals (Welch, 2011). Having developed the Lean production concept as derived from the Toyota Production System, a question that begs to be answered is how these defects made it to the customers. These kinds of production issues were not the first but only the culmination of a declining culture of quality that is slowly creeping into the once formidable framework. The Lean manufacturing runs along the concept of making sure that all aspect of production takes into consideration the cost of production. Thus, optimization and efficiency are not only high priority but they are ultimate goal of every process. Lean manufacturing concept has learned from the mistakes of Taylorism and Fordism in terms of production processes. The Toyota Production System on the other hand was developed by Kiichiro Tayoda and Taichi Ohno from the foundation of the manufacturing concept built by the founder of Toyota Motors, Sakichi Toyoda. Learning and improving the works of Demmings and Ford, the Toyota Production System or simply TPS relies heavily on the ââ¬Å"Just in Time Conceptâ⬠of Toyotaââ¬â¢s founder (Womack, Jones, & Roos, 2007). ... The above figure in a nutshell depicts the linkages of each framework with each other. I shall use this model in analysing Toyota Motors Corporation. It would be interesting to note how the LEAN and Toyota Production System will project against the Burke-Litwin organization causal modelling. Key Issues and Improvement The Toyota Lean system has been known all over the world as one of the best if not the best production frameworks in the world. It is very successful in some countries when implemented however, it fails miserably in some. With these manufacturing concepts and principles at play in manufacturing its automobiles, recall should not only be improbable it is nearly impossible. Using Burke-Litwin causal model, I shall attempt to determine what went wrong and I shall also provide some solutions on how to prevent the recalls from happening again. Although details may not be able to fit within this essay, a summary if not a short description of each concept shall be provided in relation to Toyota. Problem Analysis In analysing the problem, I shall use the Burke-Litwin Causal Model. External Environment: For Toyota, external environment are the vendors or suppliers although the Toyota Production System recognizes vendors and suppliers as partners, they are still considered as part of the external environment due in part to the lack of control of Toyota over these organizations. Toyotaââ¬â¢s external environment similarly includes the government regulators and other certification organizations that guarantees and certifies the compliance of every Toyota products to the standard of every country and industry. Both external factors drive the quality requirement and manufacturing standards of
